Physiatrist (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation)

Schedule: Monday – Friday | Shared Call Rotation
A leading regional healthcare system in central Vermont is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Physiatrist (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician) to join its comprehensive rehabilitation and musculoskeletal service line in Rutland, Vermont.
This position offers an ideal blend of outpatient musculoskeletal care, neuro-rehabilitation, electrodiagnostics (EMG/NCS), and inpatient rehabilitation consults within a supportive community setting. You will collaborate with a dedicated multidisciplinary care team—including physical therapists, occupational therapists, orthopedists, pain management specialists, and neurologists—to optimize function and quality of life for patients across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and non-surgical management for patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, spinal disorders, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurological conditions
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCS), peripheral joint injections, soft tissue injections, and ultrasound-guided interventions
- Conduct inpatient rehabilitation consultations and oversee personalized functional recovery plans
- Direct interdisciplinary team care conferences with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and nursing staff
- Manage medical and rehabilitation regimens, prescribe durable medical equipment (DME), and coordinate post-acute care transitions
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation utilizing the health system’s integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Participate in practice quality improvement initiatives, safety protocols, and patient satisfaction programs
Qualifications:
- Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Training & Credentials: Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency program; Board Certified or Board Eligible in PM&R
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Vermont medical license (or eligible for state licensure)
- Certifications: Active DEA registration and Vermont Controlled Substance License (CSR)
- Clinical Scope: Strong clinical skills in general physiatry, musculoskeletal care, and electrodiagnostics; interest in subspecialty areas (spine, sports medicine, or stroke rehab) is welcome
