About the Project

Join one of California’s largest infrastructure projects currently under construction in the Central Valley. This multi-billion-dollar transportation project includes a 32-mile alignment with complex civil scopes such as bridges, viaducts, tunnel work, utility relocations, trench sections, railroad coordination, roadway improvements, and major river crossings.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support field operations, planning, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and technical execution on a large-scale heavy civil project. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

βœ” Review plans, specifications, and develop construction schedules aligned with project milestones

βœ” Coordinate subcontractors for procurement, preconstruction deliverables, and readiness activities

βœ” Assist with bid packages, quote collection, and contract preparation

βœ” Prepare work plans, construction packages, and lead preconstruction coordination meetings

βœ” Update and distribute work schedules while coordinating notifications with internal teams and agencies

βœ” Monitor daily field activities and verify work complies with plans and specifications

βœ” Coordinate with design teams to resolve technical issues and field changes

βœ” Support subcontract administration including RFIs, submittals, correspondence, and performance tracking

βœ” Assist with monthly progress billing, reporting, forecasting, and issue resolution

βœ” Participate in change orders and claims documentation

βœ” Maintain strong working relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants, and field personnel

βœ” Enforce jobsite safety standards, cleanliness, and productivity expectations

βœ” Identify changing site conditions and help develop solutions proactively

βœ” Support permits, crossing applications, inspections, quality checks, and closeout documentation

Qualifications

βœ” Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

βœ” 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience

βœ” Strong understanding of construction safety and OSHA regulations

βœ” Experience with cost tracking, estimating, forecasting, and contracts

βœ” Knowledge of CPM scheduling and resource planning preferred

βœ” Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

βœ” Primavera P6 experience preferred

βœ” Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

βœ” Detail-oriented with the ability to identify discrepancies early

βœ” Self-motivated with strong work ethic and ability to work independently or within a team

βœ” Bridges, structures, utility relocations, rail, tunnels, or roadway construction

βœ” Public works or design-build project experience
