Senior Project Engineer – Heavy Civil / Transportation / Electrical Infrastructure
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major transportation and mass transit infrastructure project in the Los Angeles area.
This position will work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and project leadership team and will have significant responsibility for project controls, change management, cost tracking, contract administration, quality control, documentation, and project closeout.
The ideal candidate will have experience on large-scale heavy civil, rail, transit, transportation, or infrastructure projects and a strong understanding of the commercial and technical aspects of construction.
Experience with electrical infrastructure, traffic systems, street lighting, rail/transit systems, or other transportation-related electrical scopes is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in the execution of large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, and project requirements.
- Track, prepare, review, and process:
- Change Proposal Requests
- Change Orders
- Potential Change Orders
- Owner Payment Applications
- Claims & Supporting Documentation
- Assist with identifying changes in project scope and developing supporting documentation for additional compensation and/or schedule impacts.
- Monitor project costs and maintain accurate cost and production reports.
- Assist project leadership with cost forecasting and financial reporting.
- Analyze labor costs, quantities, production, and project performance.
- Prepare and maintain quantity tracking and production reports.
- Coordinate with field operations to verify installed quantities and completed work.
- Assist with procurement, subcontractor coordination, material tracking, and project documentation.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions, and other technical documentation as required.
- Research technical and quality control issues and coordinate appropriate solutions with project leadership.
- Verify completed construction complies with applicable plans, specifications, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, owners, and other project stakeholders.
- Support project scheduling, progress tracking, and short-term planning.
- Maintain organized project records and ensure documentation is current and accurate.
- Manage and coordinate project closeout requirements.
- Track punch-list items, as-built documentation, warranties, testing records, and final turnover documentation.
- Provide technical and administrative support to project leadership as required.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of construction industry experience.
- Experience working on large, complex construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, plans, specifications, and project documentation.
- Experience with project cost tracking, change management, and financial reporting.
- Ability to analyze labor costs, quantities, production, and project performance.
- Strong understanding of construction project controls and contract administration.
- Ability to manage multiple project priorities and maintain detailed documentation.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, owners, and field personnel.

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded Senior Project Engineer who understands that successful project engineering extends beyond processing RFIs and submittals.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working with both field operations and project management, analyzing costs and production, managing change documentation, reviewing technical requirements, and helping project leadership identify and resolve issues before they impact the project.
This position is particularly well suited for someone with experience on large, complex transportation, rail, transit, heavy civil, or electrical infrastructure projects who wants significant exposure to the financial and operational sides of project management.

This is a full-time position supporting a major transportation infrastructure project. Occasional travel may be required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $150,000–$180,000, depending on experience.
