Position Overview
We are partnering with a growing organization to identify a hands-on Tax Manager with a strong focus on ASC 740 income tax provision and coordination of outsourced tax functions.
This role sits at the center of tax operations—owning the provision while acting as the internal quarterback across external advisors (RSM), sales tax providers (Avalara), and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Income Tax Provision
- Prepare annual ASC 740 tax provision
- Current & deferred calculations
- Journal entries and account reconciliations
- Supporting schedules and documentation
- Perform provision-to-return true-ups and variance analysis
- Prepare quarterly estimated tax calculations
Federal & State Compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison with external tax advisors
- Review federal and state income tax returns and workpapers
- Manage timelines, deliverables, and open items
- Support audits and respond to tax authority inquiries
Sales & Use Tax Oversight
- Oversee outsourced sales/use tax compliance processes
- Review filings, exception reports, and reconciliations
- Partner cross-functionally to address tax exposure and compliance issues
Tax Operations & Strategy
- Manage multi-jurisdictional tax compliance across federal, state, and local levels
- Review financial statements to ensure accurate tax reporting
- Identify tax savings opportunities and planning strategies
- Support senior leadership with tax implications of business decisions
- Develop and maintain systems to track regulatory changes
- Assist with cash flow forecasting related to tax obligations
Process Improvement & Coordination
- Optimize tax workflows to improve efficiency and turnaround time
- Coordinate across internal teams and third-party providers
- Ensure all tax processes run smoothly and deadlines are consistently met
Ideal Background
- ASC 740 income tax provision experience
- Experience in C-Corp federal and state tax compliance
- Familiarity with outsourced tax environments (Big 4 / regional firms)
- Working knowledge of Avalara or similar sales tax systems
- Proven ability to manage audits, resolve tax issues, and work with tax authorities
- Strong project management and coordination mindset
- Ability to operate independently in a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves environment
