An established, physician-led healthcare organization in Central Illinois is seeking a Dermatologist with Mohs Surgery expertise to spearhead and build a brand-new Dermatology & Mohs service line from the ground up.
This unique opportunity provides complete clinical autonomy to design, develop, and grow a premier dermatology practice backed by robust health system support. Serving Mattoon and the surrounding regional community, you will capture significant unmet patient demand for general medical dermatology, skin cancer screenings, surgical excision, and specialized Mohs micrographic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational setup, clinical workflow design, and strategic rollout of a brand-new, comprehensive Dermatology and Mohs Surgery service line
- Provide expert outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, and surgical management for skin cancers (BCC, SCC, melanoma) and complex medical dermatological conditions
- Perform Mohs micrographic surgeries, histopathologic tissue interpretations, and reconstructive procedures upon establishing operational facility capabilities
- Serve as the founding clinical authority in establishing clinical protocols, purchasing state-of-the-art equipment, and guiding clinic layout design
- Establish a strong referral pipeline by collaborating with regional primary care physicians, general surgeons, oncologists, and advanced practice providers
- Foster a patient-centered care environment while maintaining high clinical quality and safety standards
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited US medical school or international equivalent (MD or DO)
- Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Dermatology residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology
- Fellowship training or documented proficiency in Mohs Surgery is strongly preferred
- Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or eligible for state licensure)
- Active DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License (CSR)
- Demonstrated clinical leadership ability, vision, and enthusiasm for establishing a new service line from the ground up
