Maintenance Mechanic (2 Openings) | Continuous Chemical Manufacturing
Location: Geneva, IL (On-site)
Pay: $35.00 to $45.00/hour based on experience and skills test
Shift Differential: +$1.00/hour on 2nd shift, +$2.00/hour on 3rd shift
Schedule: One opening on 2nd shift and one on 3rd shift

Overview
A global chemical producer in the western Chicago suburbs is going from two shifts to three and needs two experienced mechanics, one for 2nd shift and one for 3rd, to support a continuous, around-the-clock process. The plant spans several levels and runs pumps, mixers, reactors, heating and cooling systems, and motors across multiple process areas. Overtime is available, with more during planned shutdowns.
This is a chemical environment with heat and hazardous materials, so safety comes first in everything the team does.
What the Job Involves
- Maintain and repair pumps, mixers, reactors, motors, piping, valves, and transfer equipment on a continuous process
- Rebuild pumps, service mixers, swap motors, and handle wiring
- Troubleshoot 480V circuits and VFDs; PLC knowledge helps on some shifts
- Complete preventive and predictive work and record it in the CMMS
- Get equipment back up fast when something fails mid-run
- Work with production, engineering, and QC on what gets fixed first
- Support quarterly shutdowns and the annual plant turnaround
- Follow PSM, OSHA, LOTO, and site safety procedures
What They Need
- AAS or maintenance certifications, or 10+ years of manufacturing maintenance in place of that
- Chemical, process, or industrial manufacturing experience required
- Strong mechanical skills with pumps, mixers, motors, and piping
- 480V and VFD troubleshooting preferred, and especially valuable for 3rd shift
- PSM experience a plus
- PLC knowledge a plus, not required
- Solid understanding of OSHA, LOTO, and hazardous material handling
- Must bring own basic hand tools
